Plattsmouth, one of the earliest incorporated towns in Nebraska, is a progressive county seat in the third fastest growing county in the state. Currently, many of the town’s residents work outside of Plattsmouth itself, primarily in the Omaha metro area. But the population of this bedroom community is expected to undergo substantial growth from its current level of more than 7,000 residents thanks to its close proximity to both Omaha and Offutt Air Force Base. In addition, between 15,000 to 17,000 daily commuters pass through the area on Highway 75 to Bellevue and Omaha (a figure that is expected to double in the next five years).

Transportation:

Located on the Missouri River at the mouth of the Platte River, Plattsmouth, Nebraska, is served by U.S. Highways 34 and 75 and State Highway 66. Only three miles west of Interstate 29 and 18 miles south of Interstate 80, this growing community is conveniently located approximately 20 miles south of Omaha and 50 miles northeast of the State Capitol in Lincoln.

In addition to convenient highway access, Missouri River barge connections, Union Pacific and Burlington Northern/Santa Fe Railroads all contribute to Plattsmouth’s strategic location. The Plattsmouth Municipal Airport located two miles south of the city and Omaha’s Eppley Airfield, 23 miles north of Plattsmouth, provide passenger, air express and air freight services.
